Dentistry Awards 2007

A NORTH-east dental practice has brushed away the opposition to be named best in the country. The winning team from The Smile Spa, Stockton, was presented with the ultimate accolade of best team in the UK at the Dentistry Awards 2007.

Owners Simon and Susan Andrews led the team at a glittering presentation ceremony at the Athena in Leicester followed by a champagne reception and a black-tie gala dinner hosted by television star Roy Walker.

It was a clean sweep for The Smile Spa, of Yarm Road, Stockton, which also picked up the awards for best North East practice and best North East team.

Delighted business manager Frank Bates said: "It is a phenomenal achievement for the team here are The Smile Spa to be recognised as being the best in the whole of the UK.

"Whilst Simon and Susan Andrews are experts in their fields they can only achieve such extraordinary success with the help of all the team around them and to be named number one out of more than 800 entrants is a credit to all their hard work and dedication."

The 16 member team, ranging from implantologists to receptionists and visiting specialists, has already picked up a further three awards this year including best employer and runner up certificates for best new practice and best smile makeover.

Clinical practice manager Lynn Nichols said: "The whole team travelled to Leicester and we were hoping to come back with at least one award. But to get all three was incredible, especially in a room with so many recognised practices. It's the best possible end to the year. "

The Smile Spa has helped to create hundreds of perfect smiles for people across the North of England since opening its state of the art premises in 2006 offering a full range of treatments including implants and facial aesthetics such as Botox, as well as cosmetic and general dentistry.

Owner of the Smile Spa Dr Simon Andrews, who is to travel to Chicago in the New Year to present his smile makeover skills at the Hornbrook Dental institute, said: "We have been on a long journey in a very short space of time and have been tremendously successful in what we set out to do.

"Its means such a lot to have achieved this goal with such a fabulous team and to help to put dentistry in the North East on the map."
